Biography of Jorge J. Rodriguez

Jorge J. Rodriguez was born on April 14, 1921. He was born in Cataño Puerto Rico, and was drafted. He worked in the army as a Medic. He mainly traveled around the U.S to recruit and train other medics. Even though he experienced discrimination against Puerto Ricans, he did not quit. Instead of getting 30 days of vacation, they gave him 15 and he fought to get the 30 days. At the end, they never gave it to him so he went to Puerto Rico and they never called him back so his vacation was extended to about a month. When he returned to the U.S., he was arrested because they thought he was skipping work but then the situation was all cleared out when he presented a stack of papers proving that he was reporting to a base in Puerto Rico waiting for them to call him back. In his days serving in the army, he had plenty of spare time to hang out with his friends and play ball. They would also play poker and drink. At the end of the war, he went back to Puerto Rico and studied dentistry. The military gave him money to work as a dentist.
